Megan + James

What can I say about this venue other than it offered the most spectacular backdrop for Megan and James' Fall wedding. The sunset and moon rise provided a romantic mood for a walk and a swing photo session. All we could say is "One more kiss"!
Congratulations Megan and James! Thank you for having me film your wedding day!

Braving the snow strom

The Bat Mitzvah I filmed this past Sunday will be one to remember! They had predicted snow to hit the DC area but I had no idea it would be so bad. On my way up to Towson, MD things got hectic and as I got closer to the event, after a 3 hour drive from northern Virginia, I was starting to wonder if I was ever going to make it to Valley Mansion for the event. Good thing I left super early! I eventually made it after getting stuck in the snow a couple of times and just plowed my car in the nearest parking spot aside the venue. I met Jennifer Smutek, the photographer, in the lobby and we exchanged horror stories of being on the road in these conditions. The Service got underway, the guests slowly trickled in one by one and the party was on! It turned out to be one of the best parties I have filmed. Everyone was just so happy to have made it there and the Bat Mitzvah girl was delighted to see her friends and have wonderful time with them and her family. MC Styles and the entertainment crew were awesome and no one wanted the party to end. Probably fearing the drive back on icy roads. As it turned out, the roads had cleared and everyone was able to make it home safely. It was a memorable job and I look forward to editing an awesome video together for my client :)

My next short documentary

"Taking Off The Mask: The Transforming Power of Art" is in post-production. This will be a short documentary about the making of a play performed by the youth of the Bokamoso center in Winterveldt, South Africa. It will also present how Art empowers the youth of Winterveldt for a successful future.
Next step... drafting a script for the narration.

The Snack Artist

Never thought I would one day say that I feel excitement at the idea of starting my day's work at 5:30 AM. I seem to be on the same cycle as the kitties now. This morning I knew I would reach the end of the day with the satisfaction of a job well done. But underneath this modest confidence, still lingered this apprehension of "Can I pull it off again?"
The day is long. I take time to move my body. Later, I close my eyes and stay still a while. Rise up with that same excitement from when the alarm hit 5:30. Pushing on. still balanced between confidence and questioning. I tell myself to just do it! And I do.
I allow myself a few handfuls of the Snack Artist's trail mix as I pride myself in another well executed edit.
My happiness comes from my quality of work. My gratitude comes from the push that I get from my inner creativity.

Busiest weekend yet!

It was another fun weekend of filming events. Busiest weekend of the year so far. I was happy to see that I haven't lost my mojo working a green screen photo station. Working with Rick Miller Photography is always a blast! Thanks Rick for your support! Thanks to you all out there for your support as well. Looking forward to another green screen/video combo job this Sunday evening.

Wedding

I had the privilege of filming my friend Sarah's wedding yesterday on a picture perfect sunny day at the gorgeous National Colonial Farm in Accokeek, Maryland. "The bride was stunning and the groom still looked stunned..." (Quote from the best man's toast.)
The experience was made even more memorable as my lovely fiance assisted me in filming the ceremony. She did an awesome job! Bring on the editing! Wedding demo to come in the next few weeks. Be sure to check my demo section periodically.

Beyond the Wall: The Journey Home

Last night I had the honor of documenting a reading of "Beyond the Wall". A stage script adaptation by Jack Eubanks, Alexandre Buffington and Alivia Tagliaferri based on Alivia's book "Beyond the Wall: The Journey Home." I was exposed to the world of war and the hardships of the veterans who come home and struggle with their healing process. The stories were very real and eye opening. This play will create tremendous awareness for this painful issue of rehabilitation into society after active duty for these brave men and women!

Weekend gigs

Got a couple of nice jobs this weekend. A B'Nai Mitzvah on Saturday night which are always a lot of fun with the entertainment and other vendors. On Monday night, I'm excited to film a reading of a play that was written by a veteran about his experience on duty. I'll know a lot more about this job on Thursday. What a great line up! I love my job :)

Back on the road to Northern Virginia for another job this evening. Looking forward to this event for the Inova Fairfax Hospital.
